Zhejiang Oilfield Sets New Record for Deep Shale Gas Drilling in China

On November 28th, it was reported that the Dahan 1H28-4 well, deployed in the Linjiang anticline of the Dahan block in western Chongqing, was successfully completed. With a single trip drilling length of 3,190 meters and a horizontal section of 2,575 meters achieved in one go, this remarkable result not only broke the record for the longest horizontal section in the Dahan block, but also set a new record for the "one trip drilling" length of deep shale gas horizontal wells in China.
The completed Dahan 1H28-4 well has a drilling depth of 6,915 meters, and was drilled by the 70241 drilling team of Daqing Drilling. During the entire drilling process, the exploration and development department of Zhejiang Oilfield fully exerted the leading role of the client, using the "six major speed-up measures" - design, technology, tools, organization, management, and incentives - as the core, and establishing an efficient collaborative breakthrough system between the client and the contractor, providing all-round guarantees for the improvement and acceleration of the drilling process.
To ensure the safe and efficient progress of the drilling operation, the project team innovatively implemented the "daily analysis, weekly summary, and monthly summary" working mechanism. Through seamless connection between remote intelligent monitoring and on-site execution, the real-time control of the drilling process was achieved. At the same time, in response to the risks such as sticking and loss that are prone to occur in deep shale gas drilling, a complete risk early warning system was constructed in advance, and special technical response plans were formulated to build a safety defense line for the drilling operation.
The birth of this new record is not only a landmark achievement of Zhejiang Oilfield in the acceleration and improvement of deep shale gas drilling, but also accumulates valuable experience for the subsequent large-scale development of the Dahan block. It will strongly promote the continuous progress of China's deep shale gas exploration and development technology.
